We have had to make tough decisions over Tor Leisure

May 20th, 2012

The English love a good conspiracy and the issue of Tor Leisure has certainly generated a good number of scare stories, inaccurate theories and great conspiracies.

In her letter We must battle for our leisure centre, Kerrie Watkins is being particularly mischievous.

Previous administrations at Mendip District Council sowed the seeds that led to the deterioration and poor management of what was once a fabulous community facility. Over the past few years, we have addressed this head on. We have had to take difficult and unpalatable decisions in order to bring Tor Leisure back in hand and on a daily basis we, our staff and contractors are showing great commitment in keeping Tor Leisure...

May 19th, 2012

By Tiernan Ray

Jefferies & Co.&’s Robert Lea this morning reiterates a Hold rating on the Taipei-traded shares of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (2330TW), offering up a think piece to clients on the prospect Intel (INTC) might gain some business fabbing chips for Apple (AAPL).

&“While TSMC&’s stock price might not be factoring in a 2nd source win with Apple, neither is it discounting the rising possibility that Intel could win the business,&” writes Lea.

Frustration, disappointment and heartbreak.

More often than not, thats the way the IIHF world hockey championship ends for players from Canada. No international event consistently deals a blow to the countrys hockey-playing pride quite like this one something that wasnt lost on the team as it prepared to open the tournament against Slovakia on Friday.

You know about the economic gap between the haves and have-nots. Now apparently there is a growing leisure gap, according to researchers.

A study by the nonpartisan National Bureau of Economic Research found that highly educated, well-off Americans have less time on their hands to gallivant than others with less education.

The study, reported by CNN Money, says that since 1985, weekly leisure time for highly educated men, who have more than 12 years of education and generally have higher incomes, declined 1.2 hours to 33.2 hours by 2007. The leisure hours of men with little education climbed to 39.1 hours, up 2.5 hours during the same period. The same pattern was observed...

A few people were actually flat-out against the idea; one of our users summed a surprisingly popular view by calling the game a sleazy piece of nonsense that was tacky, sexist and nasty even when it was new.

Well tough noogies to all of you, because its happening! More than 14,000 people ponied up a grand total of $655,182, well over the goal of $500,000. With Paypal...
